Job Description:

Position Purpose

The Environmental Manager is responsible for developing and managing environmental compliance practices to meet regulatory and good manufacturing practices at all DFV facilities. This position manages internal and external auditors and will develop and implement policies and procedures (in conjunction with applicable managers) related to air, water, and land pollution control that comply with federal, state and local rules and regulations. The Environmental Manager will also enhance current sustainability programs and associated certifications/communications in partnership with applicable leaders and senior leaders throughout the organization.

Functional Responsibility

•  Provides input and assists with the monitoring of the department budget

Essential Duties

•  Manages the application, implementation and renewal of environmental permits for all applicable winery equipment/operations
•  Maintains accurate documentation and records management as required for the environmental management system, legal, and contractual requirements
•  Communicates accurately and knowledgeably with various governmental agencies regarding regulatory programs, permits, and compliance matters
•  Delivers internal compliance risk evaluations by maintaining familiarity with environmental regulatory agencies
•  Reviews regulatory compliance data to manage trends and quality of data to produce final drafts of required environmental conditions
•  Investigates compliance related incidents regarding operational procedures, causation information, and potential practices of enhancing compliance
•  Organizes cross functional teams through compliant management of environmental processes
•  Prepares and manages department budget, communicate variance to plan
•  Provides input and analysis on new projects or proposed operational activities, operational locations, and regulatory plans and programs
•  Compiles necessary information and submits reports to federal, state, and county regulatory agencies as required. Including air quality reports, hazardous materials and waste reports, drinking water reports, and waste water reports
•  Measures, analyzes, reports, and communicates data/information about environmental performance and effectiveness

Non-Essential Duties

•  Supervises regulatory audits
•  Encourages cost effective solutions towards environmental risks to applicable managers and stakeholders
•  Provides cost analysis data to improve future budgets
•  Assists Coordinator with implementation of RMP/PSM program requirements to maintain compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations
•  Acts as Company representative to professional and industry organizations concerning environmental issues (e.g. Wine Institutes & rsquo; Environmental Working Group and Manufacturers Council of Central Valley Working Group); Tracks current and pending legislative requirements; advises senior management of impending legislation and rule-making that might affect development activities, construction, and operating facilities

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

•  Bachelor's Degree in Science, HSE, or related field
•  At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•  Facilitating team problem solving and implementation
•  Organizational skills in order to prioritize and multi-task
•  Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, Data Management Systems) and the ability to apply these skills visually and analytically

Certificates and Licenses

•  Acceptable driving history with valid Driver's License

Working Conditions

General manufacturing plant work
At times, may work in noisy and dirty conditions
May be required to travel between job sites for project oversight
