Job Description:

Hahn Family Wines is an independent, family-owned wine company focused on growing and producing ultra- premium and luxury wines of place. We source from our own estate in the cool climate areas of Monterey County and from select growers in California. This critical role has three primary areas of focus: Marketing Support and Sales Support for all Hahn Family Wines brands. Highly involved in department project workflow, the Associate Brand Manager plays a key role in product marketing and distribution and management of marketing/sales tools and materials. This high-energy position requires self-starter mentality and initiative to track, manage and drive assignments or projects to completion.

As assignments are deadline driven and detail oriented, this position requires strong communication skills to disseminate information up and across the organization in a clear and timely fashion. Tasks and duties also require skills to manage shifting priorities, multi-task and perform detailed follow-up with all vested stakeholders. The position of Associate Brand Manager reports to the Brand Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Brand Management:
•  Persuasive written and oral communication to all cross-functional partners to ensure clear communication, alignment and accurate execution of key initiatives
•  Collaborate and drive initiatives with key internal and external groups, including winemaking,
creative agencies, trade marketing, and Direct-to-Consumer
•  Business Analytics: Regular evaluate brand performance, including shipments, depletions, pricing,
inventory levels, consumer insights analysis, and IRI tends; Effectively consolidate data into key learnings and provide recommended actions when necessary

Project Manager:
•  Manage execution of consumer promotions, merchandising materials, and digital/social media assets
•  Coordinate seasonal materials development and other 3-tier marketing campaigns:
o Manage Marketing Coordinator to upload artwork and POS item details to internal sales POS ordering

Portal (i.e. Sales Center):
o Responsible for seasonal promotions ROI and budget tracking
•  With Brand Manager, develop annual marketing budget recommendations to deliver on brand objectives
o Manage marketing spend annually; quarterly reports on tracking with phasing
•  With Brand Manager, develop annual brand plans, including SWOT analysis, volume and distribution goals, promotions and package recommendations, input on innovation, etc.
•  With Brand Manager, develop monthly brand health reports for Board of Directors, Family and
Executive Team review
•  Tech note development for Commercial and DTC Sku’s
o Work with Production team to assemble all relevant tech data
o Utilize existing templates to complete tech notes and provide recommendations on template
improvements, if needed
•  With Marketing Coordinator, assemble materials for company’s internal digital newsletter, published quarterly
•  Manage product and lifestyle photography
•  Assist in coordination and execution of internal sales events, e.g.: National Sales Meeting, distributor incentives
•  Special Events Support (i.e. national incentives, Market Focus)
o Data Pulls and PowerPoint development
o Development and distribution of Marketing materials and premiums
o Assist Executive Assistant with event coordination duties
•  Supporting Brand Manager w/special projects (videos), presentations & data pulls
•  Responsible for Consumer site content development (i.e. sustainability, family history, etc.)
•  With Brand Manager, over-see brand guidelines for all local trade collateral
•  Assist with corporate or marketing presentation (PowerPoint) development
•  Oversee production of all Marketing assets and sales tools

Knowledge & Skills:
•  Minimum 3 years’ experience in CPG Brand Marketing, Trade Marketing, and/or Promotions
•  STRONGLY PREFERRED: Wine industry or beverage alcohol experience and strong knowledge of 3-tier distribution system
•  Prior experience managing agencies required
•  Experience with IRI/Nielsen reporting and analysis
•  Sensory evaluation skills a plus
•  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•  Strong written and verbal communications skills
•  Comfortable pulling data, creating spreadsheets, developing presentations
•  Software proficiency: Windows Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), mandatory; knowledge of data reporting tools (i.e. Trade Pulse, IRI, Nielsen, etc.); design software (i.e. In Design, etc.), a plus

Competencies and Requirements:
•  3+ yrs wine industry experience, marketing strongly favored
•  Thrive working in a start-up environment: fast paced and high energy, managing multiple tasks and
deadlines, effectively prioritizing with strong attention to detail
•  Valid CA driver’s license with ability to become and maintain status as Company Authorized Driver
•  Available to work weekdays, weekends, and evenings as business requires
•  Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time
•  Ability to lift 40 lbs. regularly

Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time to work on a computer, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel & talk or hear. Frequently required to reach with hands & arms & taste & smell wine. Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Ability to kneel, bend and stoop to stock and inventory wine by pushing/pulling and or moving and distributing cases of wine and marketing materials. Specific vision abilities required. Ability to work in office environment with moderate noise.
