Marketing and Hospitality Manager

Job Description:

Provide leadership, vision and expertise in the development, production, communication and maintenance of marketing tools that support the winery’s strategic objectives and revenue goals. He or she will report directly to the owner and is expected to be self-motivated and driven toward achieving goals. This individual will be responsible for all marketing efforts in support of the internal sales team, distributor partners (domestic and international), trade customers and consumers.

This role will be responsible for leadership and strategic vision across all DTC channels, including tasting room, allocation club, key market events and culinary experiences. Successful candidate will manage and inspire a diverse team, have a strong background in developing and growing direct-to-consumer business and have a superior understanding of hospitality and customer service. This position will utilize DTC channels to drive sales through increased customer awareness, acquisition, brand loyalty and retention, while leading by example with outstanding customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•  Review, define, manage and maintain brand standards across all communication platforms, working in conjunction with the public/media relations consulting firm
•  Provide strategic direction and leadership on all marketing activities
•  Work in tandem with owner and management to maximize marketing impact, with a focus on:
•  Increasing qualified traffic to winery
•  Enhancing the direct-to-consumer experience at the winery
•  Increasing trade and consumer brand awareness
•  Develop promotional materials, newsletters and other collateral as needed
•  Interface with Regional Sales Managers and DTC team to provide marketing support for the FOB, wholesale and DTC sales channels as needed.
•  Design and maintain websites, providing fresh content and consistent marketing messages throughout
•  Liaise with key partners in Napa Valley such as Napa Valley Vintners, Visit Napa Valley et al
•  Manage social media strategies, implementation and maintenance
•  Establish annual department budgets and manage within those budgets to meet goals and maximize ROI
•  Ensure that all brand messaging, imagery and marketing collateral is consistent across channels

•  Elevate, enhance and promote our luxury brand image and identity throughout all activities; cultivate an environment for guests that fosters loyalty and retention
•  Oversee day-to-day retail, club and hospitality operations
•  Maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly performance dashboards that inform management and owner of pertinent DTC sales performance metrics
•  Provide strategic insights and tactical decisions to maximize sales and profitability trends, adjusting plans and allocation strategies as appropriate
•  Identify new and support existing strategic partnerships which target hospitality and wine industry partners; develop referral marketing programs to cross promote brand
•  Work with managers to identify appropriate industry and community outreach efforts
•  Monitor department’s P&L
•  Develop long term DTC business strategy and plan
•  Manage culture, encourage strong work ethic and foster a high level of trust and respect
•  Provide leadership, support and guidance to all staff
•  Place continued emphasis on enthusiasm, team sharing and creative idea generation

Qualifications, Education and Skills Required

•  B.A. / B.S. degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field
•  Exceptional writing, oral-presentation and interpersonal skills
•  Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience marketing and managing luxury wine brands
•  Exceptional interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
•  Clear understanding and knowledge of three-tier vs direct to consumer sales channels
•  Demonstrated success as a leader, promoting excellence for team and individual growth
•  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
•  Familiarity or expertise with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Squarespace and basic CMS
•  Must be at least 21 years of age, with a clean driving record and ability to lift 40-50 pounds
•  Passionate about wine, food and people
