VINEYARD MANAGER/ASSISTANT VINEYARD MANAGER
Quail Run Vineyards is located in southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley. We farm 350 acres on 12 sites, and sell 28 varieties of wine grapes to about 30 wineries throughout Oregon. We are family owned and operated and have been in business for 30 years. We practice sustainable agriculture and are LIVE certified.
Our vineyards are grouped into three clusters, each with a crew supervisor and small permanent crew. The assistant vineyard manager will work directly with the crew supervisors and manager Michael Moore.
We are looking for a hard-working individual who is well organized, knowledgeable about plants and farming, able to operate farm equipment as well as perform all managerial activities.
*Work with vineyard supervisors to ensure that all vineyard operations are performed in a timely and efficient manner.
*Assist in determining irrigation needs and spray programs, write work orders accordingly, ensure orders are carried out and document results.
*Scout for disease and pest problems.
*Operate all vineyard equipment as needed and be able to recognize and repair minor problems as they occur.
*Calibrate sprayers and ensure tractor operators make accurate applications.
*Ensure that all equipment operators are well trained and oversee timely maintenance of all equipment.
*Conduct safety training and observe that OSHA regulations are followed.
*Assist with gathering and recording grape samples and determine optimal harvest time for each block.
*Help schedule and oversee picking and shipping of grapes and keep records of all harvest transactions.
*Do reporting to LIVE and other agencies monitoring chemicals, irrigation, etc.
*Assist in post-harvest invoicing and record keeping.
*Knowledge of viticulture and plant science.
*Knowledge of Excel and good general computer skills
*Ability to operate farm equipment
*Good organizational skills
*Keen observational skills
*Interest in ongoing education
*Knowledge of pest and disease problems in the vineyards
*Working Spanish and a willingness to become fluent

Southern Oregon is a rapidly growing premium grape area with many new vineyards and wineries springing up each year. The Rogue Valley has a moderate climate with about 18 inches of rainfall annually, mostly in the winter months.
The valley towns of Ashland, Medford, Jacksonville and Talent are a few miles apart and the region offers excellent schools, many cultural events including a year long Shakespeare Festival and the Britt summer music festival. Ashland is the site of Southern Oregon University and Medford has Rogue Community College. The surrounding mountain and rivers offer varied outdoor recreational opportunities and the Pacific Ocean is a few hours away.
