The Chumash Enterprises is located in the beautiful wine country of Santa Ynez, California.
Under the general supervision of the Winemakers, the Cellar Worker provides support to the Wine Production department in all aspects of production, from grape to bottle.
Primary Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks:
Assists with racking, clarifying and blending of wine and juice.
Assists with Barrel operations including racking, topping, and barrel cleaning.
Responsible for the proper set up, use and care of all equipment.
Responsible for sanitizing winery, equipment, and tanks.
Performs Harvest responsibilities including but not limited to, fruit sorting/processing, monitoring fermentations (Brix Temp, and Density), punch downs, filling barrels, additions to juice and must, draining and pressing, and lab analysis.
Assists with counting inventory.
Assists with mobile bottling and packaging.
Operates Forklift with fruit, barrels, and case goods.
Follows and observes all safety guidelines for cellar operations.
Participates in Vineyard sampling as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED Certificate.
2 years’ wine cellar experience.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office software applications, Internet, and Email.
Ability to work safely around equipment and chemicals.
Must be able to read and write legibly.
Must be detail-oriented.
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to the changing work environments.
Available to work as needed including weekends, holidays and evenings.
Valid California Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record.
Native American hiring preference applies.
