Division Wine Co. is a winery located in the heart of Southeast Portland, Oregon and is based in the SE Wine Collective (our related urban winery and restaurant & wine bar). We are looking for a new assistant winemaker to join our team beginning late May or early June. This role also includes operations management of the SE Wine Collective and supervision over client cellar work activities. This is a full-time job and leadership role and as such, we require at least three years of full time prior winemaking experience as a cellar master or assistant winemaker. We are seeking a highly dedicated and well organized team player that is also flexible and has a positive and friendly attitude (no jerks!). Here is a list of essential duties and responsibilities: -Full wine cycle responsibility with instruction from our co-winemaker & owners of the grape crop through harvest, wine production and bottling.
-Manage winery production work order generation in coordination with our co-winemaker & owners.
-Cleaning, sanitizing and maintain winery and cellar equipment.
-Vineyard visits and grape testing (acidity/sugar).
-Picking, sorting, de-stemming and crushing fruit from across the Pacific Northwest -Fermentation monitoring and tracking, management of ferment database.
-Punchdowns, pumpovers,& pigeage (jumping in!).
-Cellar bulk inventory management, including, tracking, topping and scheduling and operating bulk wine racking movements.
-Driving a flat bed or box truck loaded with our grapes, equipment, wine (must have valid drivers license).
-Have a forklift operators license as well as be a very strong forklift operator in a tight spatial environment.
-Assist our co-winemaker & owners in sensory analysis and blending and other winemaking decision making,
-Supervise maintain and organize the winery facility, winery lab and exterior operations.
-Verification that proper cellar procedures are followed for our wines and the client wineries.
-Coordinate and assist the SE Wine Collective client winemakers with scheduling their cellar needs, as well as providing support for their production requests,
-General winery organization for Division and the SE Wine Collective client wineries.
-Setup and breakdown of winery and SE Wine Collective onsite events.
-Representing Division at wine related events (tastings, dinner, etc.)
-Wine club and online order fulfillment with FedEx and pickups.
-Special project activities as needed and assigned We need you to be able to do these things: -Lift 50lbs repeatedly
-Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights
-Strong communication skills to interface with the owners, winery clients and the other team members of Division and the SE Wine Collective
-Have comfortability with working as team player in non-traditional winery environment that also has client wineries, and an onsite event space and wine bar & restaurant.
-Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong knowledge of Excel -Able to work flexible hours, as well as long hours during harvest and bottlings while maintaining a great attitude -Have reliable transportation so you can get to work on time.
-Must be able to work in cold and damp cellar environment -Feel comfortable reading and writing in English. (Kate speaks French and Spanish, Tom speaks some French, Sophie speaks French too and Cass speaks woof)

-Full time salaried position with an opportunity for a post harvest performance bonus
