The Sake Brand Development Manager (BDM) will maximize the sale of the company’s sake (and other Asian/Japanese) portfolio to the trade and consumers through effective account management, sales execution and communication that permits achievement of company and supplier objectives.
Plan time and activities to ensure achievement of company and supplier established goals and sales objectives.
Work in conjunction with Director of Sales, Division Manager, Assistant Division Manager, Account Managers, Account Executives and Sales Representative to ensure effective distribution execution of the company’s sake portfolio.
Effectively work with all channels of the business including on-premise, off-premise and specialty retail divisions.
Develop monthly, weekly and daily written plans for execution.
Provide superior customer service and timely follow through to all assigned accounts.
Gain knowledge of key customer’s business operations and coordinating multiple and diverse options for selling the company’s products to each.
Prepare professional sales presentations for each account call tailored to current supplier programs and the needs of the customer, as well as staff trainings.
Have extensive knowledge of the company’s products and portfolio.
Sell concepts and consulting with the customer on strategies that will collectively enhance both business models.
Build relationships, and be the primary sake contact for the ultimate decision maker in assigned key accounts.
Open new accounts through existing and new relationships in the assigned area of responsibility.
Participate in all assigned supplier work-withes including the appropriate administrative follow up.
Communicate issues, opportunities and market intelligence with appropriate management through written, electronic and verbal means.
Educate sales teams on sake sales and product knowledge.
Maintain up-to-date, accurate territory and account records.
Submit prompt and accurate reports.
Follow company policies and procedures.
A Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited four-year college or university; or equivalent experience.
3 to 5 years of sales experience in the beverage alcohol industry, such as supplier, wholesale and/or retail.
Proficiency with the Japanese language is highly desired
Sake-related certifications, such as WSET, Certified Sake Specialist, or Sake Sommelier, are desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and clean DMV record.
Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and objection handling skills.
Prior experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office environment.
Proven abilities to develop selling strategies targeted to enhance sake sales.
Proven track record of successful selling.
Ability to work with management, colleagues, and customers throughout the business and industry at every level.
Managerial experience and the ability to influence others that do not report directly to you.
Ability to develop an effective partnership with accounts
