Jordan Vineyard and Winery, a well-established, family owned winery in the Alexander Valley, is seeking a full-time employee to join the guest services team as a Guest Services Associate. Applicants must be energetic, outgoing and have a passion for the wine industry. We are looking for a polished professional that is comfortable conducting extensive tours and tastings for large and small groups, as well as occasionally assisting with formal wine service needs for lunches, dinners and other events at the winery.
As a member of our Guest Services team, you must be able to properly convey our message to our visitors in an enjoyable, informative and professional manner. We offer one of the premier guest experiences in California, and expect all applicants to have the ability to graciously present our wines and history over extended periods of time. We are looking for someone that has an extraverted personality, knowledge of the global wine industry, and a polished and professional demeanor. Applicants must have a pleasant, clear and positive voice, and be comfortable speaking in front of large groups. All applicants must be detailed oriented and meticulously organized. Our staff handles many other administrative duties in addition to hosting our guests. Cooperation and a willingness to work together as a team is an absolute must.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify. You must have a minimum of Level I Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, or the equivalent of education from other accredited institution.
Open availability, including weekends and holidays would be required. Previous winery, hotel or restaurant experience is expected, as is familiarity with POS software. We are looking for an individual that is more than proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and must be able to take point-of-sale orders as well as phone orders using our in-house software.
Applicants must be over the age of 21, and be able to repeatedly lift 50 lb boxes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Host consumer and trade tours and tastings as assigned
Offer outstanding customer service to each guest
Perform flawless wine service to the standards of the Court of Master Sommeliers and similar organizations
Host Jordan Estate Rewards Members and all consumer related events as needed and assigned. Tasks include opening wine, setting up wine stations, clearing glassware, food items/dishes and sales
Setup and breakdown of all tours and tastings
Explain Jordan Estate Rewards Program on all guest experiences, including by phone
Wash, clear or remove glassware as needed, especially in the retail salon throughout the day
Process orders at POS, web and phone operating system (bLoyal) as needed
Assist customers with problem orders
Answer phones as needed
Cover all concierge duties as needed on weekends, lunches and days off by concierge
Ensure stocking of all wine and non-wine items including packaging supplies
Ensure retail lobby is kept orderly and clean of debris, dirty glassware or used collateral
Support housekeeping staff in setup clearing of food pairings, cheeses and/or olive oil as needed for last minute guest experiences
Create folios, print material and assemble as necessary
Complete thank you cards for all guests in a timely fashion
Check in guests to accommodations as outlined in check-in procedures
Outline security calendar for pickup times, vehicle procedure as needed
Ensure all iPads for Tastevin and CellarPass are working and properly charged – and cleared of “my selections” when put on the floor or table in cellar room.
Ensure proper music and video are working in retail salon & cellar room
Adhere to safety regulations and policies; report any potential safety issues to supervisor or Safety Coordinator

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify.
An associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Familiarity with winemaking and viticulture is required
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
Wine education certificate preferred such as Court of Master Sommeliers Certificate, Wine Spirit Education Trust or equivalent education from another known organization.
