We are looking for an entry level winemaker for our winery located in NJ, near Philadelphia, PA. We seek an entry level winemaker who, at minimum, has the foundational experience/ knowledge of winemaking, the passion/ eagerness to learn more, and the drive/ aspiration to become a head winemaker.
This is a hands-on position involving a boutique winery (3,000 - 5,000 cases annually). It is preferred the candidate have lab and computer skills, as well as the ability to maintain and operate winery and vineyard equipment. Applicant must be able to work independently in the cellar throughout the winemaking process, filtration, bottling and to assist in the vineyard during the growing season and harvest. The applicant reports directly to the owner while working closely with the winemaking consultant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Passion for traditional winemaking.
-Ability to effectively communicate with staff, consultant, and owner.
-Oversee production of wines from a selection of vinifera varietals, as well as French and American hybrids.
-Implement and ensure quality control within the facility.
-Implement and manage a safety program covering all winery operations.
-Keep detailed records of each phase of production.
-Work closely with our wine consultant to ensure quality
-Ability to operate all winery and vineyard equipment including forklift and tractor.
-Participate in selected wine marketing events and ability to work certain weekends.
-Degree in enology or equivalent.
-Minimum of 3 years experience in winemaking.
-Minimum of 3 years experience operating a wine facility.
-Experience operating in a vineyard
Starting Salary Range: $28,000 - $35,000
