In addition to robust offerings under the winery’s flagship Fetzer label, the winery also crafts the leading wine from organic grapes, Bonterra Organic Vineyards, named the 2016 American Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine. Other California-based offerings include Adorada, Anthony’s Hill, Jekel Vineyards, Sanctuary Wines and 1000 Stories, a Bourbon barrel aged Zinfandel recognized as a 2017 IMPACT Hot Prospect brand. Part of global winery Viña Concha y Toro, Fetzer Vineyards exports its diverse wines to more than 30 countries worldwide. Most recently, the winery entered the ultra-luxury wine and spirits category by forging a partnership with Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. to sell is historic craft rye whiskey.

We’re looking for a Regional Manager, Illinois to carry on our vision. As we continue to innovate and introduce new brands to the market and identify opportunities for our proven brands such as Bonterra, Fetzer, 1000 Stories and Jekel, you will develop and execute the business plan throughout the region as well as travel throughout the region to call on key accounts and manage our distribution network.

This is a virtual, home office based role with the ideal candidate located in or near the Chicago Metro area. Responsibilities:

DISTRIBUTOR MANAGEMENT
Oversee the development and execution of annual business plans for all major distributors
•  Establish volume and distribution plans for all key brands in alignment with national direction (at the key customer level)
•  Collaborate on the development of effective chain presentations and corresponding execution plans (for obtained programs)
•  Outline and secure appropriate “tools” (pricing, marketing, manpower) to achieve plan goals
•  Ensure alignment and commitment of the distributor
Ensure that sales objectives are being met while remaining within assigned budgets
Review and evaluate distributor depletions, shipments and inventories
•  Review distributor accounts sold and points of distribution against plan (quarterly)
Ensure monthly and mid-monthly reporting is reviewed/completed for all major distributors
Become proficient in distributor pricing to include:
•  Margin analysis (distributor and retailer)
•  Deal structures
•  Channel or customer pricing

RETAIL EXECUTION AND MARKET INTELLIGENCE
Ensure all Fetzer Vineyards programming is executed with excellence in the marketplace to include:
•  Proper pricing across all customers
•  In-store presence is meeting communicated standards at the shelf, on the floor or on a menu
•  Distribution is in line with understood authorizations
Utilize or develop local programming that will increase sales in each channel
Develop market specific brand standards and communicate them to wholesalers; ensure standards are enforced
Consistently survey the marketplace to “inspect what you expect” and to keep up-to-date on all emerging trends. Be known for this and become best-in-class

INTERNAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Ensure that you and your team keep current on all internal and external business responsibilities
•  Reporting of depletions
•  Ordering of POS related materials
•  Accrual requests
•  Shipment management
•  Market presentations
•  Business analysis; annual planning; budget management and analysis
•  Collaborative practices with the distributor business managers

BUILDING THE ORGANIZATION
•  Keep current on “news” and trends in the industry
•  Participate in training and development for you and your team
•  Motivate and mentor District and/or Field Managers creating a culture of teamwork
•  Conduct regular team meetings
•  Always act like a leader

Required:

•  Bachelor Degree from an accredited college with a minimum five years progressive experience, or equivalent education/experience combination
•  Proven success in wine/adult beverage sales management including both on and off premise sales. Experience with chain accounts, a plus
•  Knowledge of products, wine industry, competitive markets, brands, and customers’ issues and typical needs
•  Public speaking and presentation skills
•  Proven entrepreneurial spirit, strong teamwork skills
•  Excellent interpersonal skills with the highest level of integrity
•  Identification of wine styles (Structured External Tastings)
•  Leadership/managerial competencies
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
•  Nielsen/IRI information experience
•  Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured
•  Overnight travel required (up to 30-40% of the time)

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis, carry up to 40 lbs. & push and pull up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis; ability to sit and work at a desk for long periods of time; requires ability to walk and stand; reach outward and upward, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend; requires hand and finger dexterity for keyboarding and working at computer for extended periods of time. Additional physical requirements required as related to domestic/international travel via air and ground transportation.

Location:

This is a virtual, home office based role with the ideal candidate located in or near the Chicago Metro area. Travel will be approximately 15% - 20% throughout the region.
