Director of Sales and Hospitality

Job Description:

The Director of Sales and Hospitality is a senior level position and reports directly to the Owners. The Director is responsible for managing all activities of the hospitality, including:

The primary operations overseen by the Director are:
•  Creation and maintenance of a luxury hospitality experience for all visitors;
•  Presentation and sales of Wheeler Farms wines;
•  Presentation and sales of A/P Client wines;
•  Presentation and sales of the Hospitality House as an event venue to outside parties

To support the Hospitality Program by increasing traffic and growing sales, the Director will need to design and engage in an effective, high-touch outreach program to raise the profile of Wheeler Farms by:
•  Contacting, nurturing and rewarding relationships with area-wide concierges, transportation companies, hotels, key wine shops, etc.
•  Targeting and developing new customers for visits and events
•  Developing and maintaining personal relationships with direct customers
•  Establishing a wine club and growing its membership
•  Creating and executing an events production program
•  Participating in industry events such as ANV, PNV, AVA, etc.
•  Providing support for social media strategies developed by Emma Morris
•  Monitoring and managing PR related goals

Sales and Hospitality:
To ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and to grow sales revenues in the Hospitality House, the Director will manage the daily activities by:
•  Representing and selling Wheeler Farms wines, as well as A/P Clients’ wines, in a professional and gracious manner
•  Receiving visitors by appointment and providing a uniquely memorable tour and tasting experience
•  Working closely with each A/P Client to understand and reflect their individual needs in the presentation of their wines when requested
•  Overseeing the tasting room schedule and arbitrating when necessary to accommodate all visitors if possible
•  Ensuring adequate onsite wine inventory
•  Providing a seamless sales and shipping experience
•  Hiring, training and overseeing all tasting room staff, using metrics to track and improve overall performance
•  Overseeing general upkeep of the Hospitality House facilities and furnishings

Administrative and Reporting:
To record and report visitor traffic and sales, and to track other metrics, the Director will:
•  Provide regular reporting about visitors, inventory, sales, and shipments to Accounting and Management
•  Develop budgets for all sales channels, including the tasting room, events, wine club and internet sales
•  Provide regular sales and profitability analyses to track success of different strategies
•  Receive and fulfil sales from the website
•  Maintain the customer database and analyze the database to ensure the best use of CRM data
•  Oversee monthly inventory of wines, kitchen equipment, other collateral materials
•  Maintain open communications with Hospitality, Production, Accounting, and Management
•  Monitor competitive activity and provide analysis of pricing and positioning of WF products

Job Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in the wine/hospitality industry with direct-to-consumer sales experience
Ability to motivate and manage people
Outgoing, customer-oriented disposition
Solid experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
Significant experience with winery POS systems (Vin65 preferred)
Occasional weekend, evenings, holidays and special event availability is required
Must be 21 or older
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
Must be able to stand for several hours at a time

Job Location: St Helena, CA
Hours: Standard work week is 40 hours, but some evenings and weekends will be required according to Hospitality schedule
