Accounting Manager

Job Description:

Established Central Coast winery is seeking a talented full-time Accounting Manager. The job is fast-paced, and multi-faceted with a need for significant back-office experience including bookkeeping, financial modeling/reporting, inventory, HR, with some marketing and general operations support. The position demands initiative and attention to detail.

EXPERIENCEExpert level experience with QuickBooks Pro including wine industry cost accounting, MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong technical proficiency needed to manage back-office POS (vin65), online business services and activities. Must be resourceful, customer service oriented, able to multi-task, detail oriented, analytical, able to handle heavy workload and long hours from time to time and flexible. Previous accounting/bookkeeping and college degree required; while wine industry experience/knowledge is strongly preferred.


•  Perform daily and monthly accounting tasks for multiple winery and vineyard business entities; maintaining all QuickBooks accounts
•  Accounts Payable – process bills with accurate coding and allocations, prepare checks, answer vendors inquires, maintain AP files
•  Accounts Receivable – create, distribute and monitor receivables. Make deposits, reconcile and book vin65 activity
•  Order processing, inventory, and revenue accounting – receive orders, prepare invoices, perform monthly inventories, properly account for non-sales us of wine (samples, tastings, gifts)
•  Monthly financial close – closing entries, allocations and reconciliations, including bank accounts and intercompany accounts
•  Experience with financial reports such Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, understanding of GAAP with cost basis accounting
•  Ensure all inter-entity lease payments are processed timely

•  Assist Controller/Treasurer


•  Review time cards for accuracy and completion
•  Calculate and submit time and attendance, commission and other payroll information for payroll service
•  Add/remove employees to payroll service
•  Maintain employee files/records

•  Assist with budgeting
•  Provide administrative/accounting support for other departments as required
•  Provide other duties and assignments as requested by Controller/Treasurer


•  On site, must be flexible to work longer hours for specific projects & deadlines
•  Must have valid Drivers License; be available to make occasional deliveries and storage runs
•  Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds required
•  Ability to build and enhance internal relationships and work as part of a team
