We are hiring an Assistant Tasting Room Manager to support the opening of our newly designed, state-of-the-art tasting room and build a world-class hospitality experience. Under the direction of the Tasting Room Manager, the Assistant Tasting Room Manager will oversee all aspects of the tasting room, from creating positive customer interactions to helping meet Wine Insider sign-ups. This vital position will train new employees and help meet tasting room sales goals. The Assistant Manager will support Events and the other winery locations (Landmark Vineyards & JUSTIN Winery) when needed, working hand-in-hand with other Tasting Room leadership. The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service and sales skills and have a true passion for wine.This full-time role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to work evening shifts as needed. The target start date for this position is mid-March to early April.

Job Description

Provide on-the-floor leadership to maintain the flow of operations in all areas of the Lewis tasting room
Create memorable guest experiences and service standards to maintain the brand's reputation for excellence, ensuring service delivery stays above 98% and meets departmental KPIs
Motivate, coach, and develop staff to achieve or exceed established targets
Enforce company policies and standard operating procedures (SOP)
collaborate with other departments to promote Lewis Cellars's brands and products
Supervise tasting room staff, provide direction, and delegate responsibilities as needed
Manage staff scheduling, timecards, performance reviews, employee development, and employee safety
Oversee Tasting Room team incentives to meet plans and maximize team effectiveness
Lead the winery outreach program and schedule Tasting Room Staff accordingly for outreach winery support
Monitor progress goals and provide reports to senior leadership
Partner with the Inventory Manager and Operations Manager to determine tasting menus, and create or update other menus based on inventory and wine menu
Resolve guest concerns/complaints using good judgment and tact
Facilitate and promote good communication between all departments (Hospitality, Marketing, Wine Society, Accounting, Production, Housekeeping, etc.)

Qualifications

2 years of hospitality sales experience in a tasting room, hotel, restaurant, or retail setting; wine industry experience preferred
Minimum 1 year of supervisory or management experience
Knowledge of opening a new outlet or service location is highly desirable
Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
Level I Sommelier - or willingness to get a level I (with company sponsorship) or WSET Level 2
Must be able to perform technical calculations, assemble data in spreadsheets and charts/graphs, and manage budgets
Understanding of P&L, labor plans, etc.
Bachelor’s or equivalent experience and prior experience developing, hiring, and building up a team
Proven success in recruiting and hiring high-performing team members
Strong team player with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
Proven success working with others, excellent communication skills and ability to relate to people at all levels to educate and serve as a mentor
Must possess a "big picture" perspective and be well-versed in administrative, property management and Point-of-sale systems
Ability to establish direction, obtain commitment, and execute appropriate management processes
