Position Summary:
The Wagner Family of Wine is looking for a Market Manager that is a highly motivated, well organized, and self-starting individual. This position is responsible for driving wine sales and new distribution in the prescribed territory, primarily focused on restaurant/fine wine retailers and some chain responsibilities in Washington and Oregon. This position reports directly to the PNW Region Manager.
Sales and Sales Management Duties:
• Work with PNW Region Manager to consistently build our business in key account territory
• Own market relationships in top 75-100 accounts in designated account territory
• Enhanced knowledge of local market conditions at distributor and trade levels alike, while building and growing relationships within all channels of trade in the assigned territory
• Maintain an intricate knowledge of the history and philosophy of the Wagner family and their vision and core values for each of our wine brands
• Utilize Targit analysis and key relationships in the market to manage price and promotional integrity of all brands within the portfolio
• Conduct regular distributor sales meetings and training sessions with distributor personnel to ensure the proper execution of marketing strategies within prescribed guidelines
• Build trust, loyalty, and confidence in the marketplace with distributor/accounts and colleagues
• Identify, contact and sell to targeted On/Off premise accounts independently and alongside distributor personnel
• Track and maintain lists/trackers to record sales interaction, results, follow up needed etc.
• Consumer/trade (including retail chain) tastings and demos as necessary
• Monthly reporting (expenses/weekly sales report etc.)
• Execute monthly Sales Goals as directed by SoCal Region Manager
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skill sets and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate both internally and externally
• Strong grasps of necessary software programs including Targit, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Nielsen
• Keep management informed of critical information and trends in the marketplace
• Articulate and impactful in group presentations and meetings
• Ability to clearly tell the Wagner Story to key influencers to drive sales
• Bring passion for fine wine with experience in developing and implementing luxury brand building strategies into daily performance
• Live within prescribed territory with proximity to major selling markets
• 80% of time (4 days per week) spent in market, 20% in office (1 day per week)
• 65% of time spent in Washington market and 35% in Oregon market
• Travel to National and Divisional meetings
• Be a solid “team player” and embrace the Wagner Family of Wine culture
• Embrace developmental opportunities with Region Manager and execute yearly developmental plan
• It is important that our market managers control their destiny through strong account relationships
• 3-5 years of wine industry sales experience required with a distributor or supplier
Market Manager Core Competencies:
• Become a Preferred Supplier within Sales Territory
• Build and own strong relationships with territory distributor sales personnel and key account buyers
• Consistently increase account footprint by expanding relationships across the market
• Know your business in order to be a resource for distributor salespeople and key accounts
• Prioritize all activities that proactively drive sales, protect brand equity, and increase share of mind
• A minimum of 80% of time in the field selling
• 10% territory analysis, 5% weekly key account call prep, 5% weekly/monthly admin
• Consistently drive Wagner sales in top 75-100 key high profile accounts in territory
• Effectively communicate market conditions, roadblocks, and opportunities to Regional and Divisional Managers
• Build Wagner Ambassadors inside distributor sales force through constant engagement and support
Working Conditions:
Ability to travel and work some weekends. Position MUST be based within the Greater Seattle Area. No relocation assistance is provided.
Physical Requirements:
• Operate a desktop computer using keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items
• Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision
• Sit and stand for long periods of time
• Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch or climb
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
