Madson Tasting Room and Wine Club Manager

Madson Wines is a boutique winery focused on farming and making wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains. We pride ourselves on making unique wines and cultivating memorable experiences for our customers and an enjoyable working environment for our employees. We are looking for an enthusiastic and determined individual to join our small team at Madson Wines.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•  Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the tasting room, including but not limited to staff scheduling, inventory and supplies management, staff motivation, training and coaching, and nurturing strong communication within the department.
•  Provide exceptional customer service and a memorable guest experience for all visitors while managing the team to achieve business goals and objectives.
•  Host and manage the flow of all tasting experiences in both indoor and outdoor settings
•  Financial management, tracking budget to actual performance against key tasting room metrics (visitor traffic, sales, list acquisition, etc.) and understanding of the inter-relationship of these metrics to the overall department and company performance.
•  Possesses high standards and takes ownership in the appearance of all tasting spaces and storage areas
•  Manage and maintain communication with wine club members and customers in addition to executing the wine club release protocol biannually.
•  Develop training programs and on-going education for staff and new hires.
•  Work collaboratively with other department heads to execute events and special projects
•  Positively contribute to our fun, hardworking company culture
•  Plan events and contribute to set-up and breakdown of experiences and events on property
•  Maintain and update current SOPs, tasting menus, collateral etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•  3+ years minimum experience in wine industry retail management
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and POS systems (Commerce7 knowledge a plus)
•  Understanding of winemaking, with ability to educate and inform others
•  Friendly, enthusiastic, customer-centric demeanor and professional appearance, with a sense of humor
•  A self-starter who takes initiative and thrives on being creative with finding ways to drive qualified traffic and is never comfortable with status quo
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•  Stong Organizational skills
•  Collaborative style with ability to share success across the team
•  Administratively strong, organized and punctual
•  Must be capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks at once
•  Adaptable and flexible with ability to maintain composure in unpredictable situations
•  Strong leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
•  Must be able to lift and maneuver wine cases up to 50 lbs. repetitively
•  Must be able to stand for long periods of time
•  Flexible schedule: weekend, holiday and occasional evening work is required
•  21 years of age or older
