JOB DESCRIPTION
Gregory James Wines, a small family-owned winery focusing on single vineyard, small-lot wines made with little intervention, is searching for a Regional Sales Manager to join their team.
We are seeking an energetic self-starter to continue growing our brand by maintaining current success and cultivating new wholesale accounts and direct sales channels in Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties. The ideal candidate works well independently, is detailed oriented and communicates effectively. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about the wine industry. This role is perfect for someone who likes to multitask and build relationships while selling wine.
Flexible availability will allow for the most success in the role. Tastings for direct consumer guests will be booked based on mutual availability. This position can be filled by someone who has another position and is looking to increase both their productivity and income.
- A valid driver’s license is required, weekly deliveries will be made to wholesale accounts.
- Applicants must be over the age of 21 and be able to repeatedly lift 50 lb. boxes.
- $25 hourly rate plus commission on wine sales and club signups
- A travel and expense allowance is be provided along with mileage reimbursement
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
WHOLESALE
Establish on and off premise accounts in Sonoma, Napa, Marin counties and beyond
Maintain accounts by building great relationships, including regular follow ups with buyers, check inventory levels and reorders, offer educational training including vineyard visits and collateral as needed.
Host wine dinners and outside events
Submit orders for fulfillment and invoicing
Fulfill all orders based on established weekly delivery schedule
Submit reports on placements and order volume monthly
DIRECT TO CONSUMER
Create awareness for direct to consumer tastings with community outreach
Offer gracious, professional, and approachable hospitality to each guest
Lead tastings at our Host Winery in the Dry Creek Valley
Describe wines, winemaking techniques and winery history while answering visitors’ questions
Complete setup and cleanup for all experiences
Collect food pairings as needed from downtown Healdsburg
Process and fulfill orders, including submitting shipping orders
Follow all direct-to-consumer shipping laws
Increase Wine Club signups, mailing list members and follow up with all guests
INVENTORY
Keep inventory records, including usage and sales
Maintain inventory levels of wine and collateral at Host Winery
Send bi-weekly inventory reports
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Professional personal presentation required.
You must love people and have a deep interest in wine.
Driven to sell, grow and improve.
Ability to work well individually and within a small team environment.
Strong computer skills: previous POS experience is preferred.
California Responsible Beverage Service Certification Required (assistance provided if needed)
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
3+ years customer service and sales in the wine industry
Wholesale experience a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Wine education certificate from the Wine Spirit Education Trust or a Court of Master Sommeliers Certificate is preferred
