Napa County Pruning Contest

img 1A vineyard worker (right) competes Saturday in the 17th Annual Napa County Pruning Contest. Altogether, 25 women and 114 men competed in separate divisions at the Gamble Ranch near Yountville. The pruners were graded for speed and execution. The grapegrowers, who coordinated the competition, said the contest event was scheduled on a Saturday for the first time to make the competition a family event. The top pruners received a belt buckle and cash prizes.
