Retail Sales Analysis: Wine Sales Up 2 Percent in September

September wine sales are up 2 percent from August. Despite the increase, sales for September were down 2 percent from the same period last year in The Nielsen Company-tracked data. The 2 percent growth in the last four weeks all took place in wines retailing under $15. Wines in both the $0 to $5.99 and $9 to $14.99 categories grew 2 percent while wines retailing for $6 to $8.99 remained flat. Sales of wines above $15 slightly decreased.
