Retail Sales Analysis: Overall Wine Sales Up 4.7 Percent through May

Overall wine sales are up 4.7 percent in the 52 weeks ending May 30, 2009 while case volume sales are also slightly up, rising 2.4 percent. Overall wine sales in the 13 weeks ending May 30 gained 3.9 percent over the same period in The Nielsen Company-tracked supermarket channel in May figures. Year-on-year, domestic sales increased 5.9 percent, and imported wine grew 1.7 percent in the 52 weeks ending May 30. Domestic wine sales gained 4.8 percent while imports rose 1.6 percent in the 13 weeks...
