The roots for the National Grape and Wine Initiative (NGWI) were formed in 2003 when leaders of the grape and wineindustry and UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology met to address a research funding crisis and set researchpriorities. Since then, the organization has grown into a nationwide coalition representing all segments of the grape industry, including raisin, juice, fresh grape and wine.
