This year's ASEV meeting brought together scientists, closure producers and winemakers to present a much-overdue scientific look at the role of closures in commercial winemaking.

A cross-section of industry and academic researchers gathered to discuss the "Science of Closures" at last June's ASEV annual meeting held in Seattle, WA. According to Purdue University professor Christian Butzke, of Sakonnet Vineyards, the program committee for the ASEV annual meeting had seen a need for such a seminar for some time.
