August. The year has been going by quickly, and harvest is fast approaching. Wine growers here in Northern California experienced one of the wettest springs in recent memory. Wet weather meant more attention to programs to combat powdery mildew and botrytis. The late rains also stimulated vigorous vine growth, making leaf and shoot removal to open up vine canopies a priority.
