Pierce's Disease Acreage Monitoring Triples in Kern County

In an attempt to gain a better understanding of the incidence of Pierce's Disease in Kern County, 35,000 acres of vineyards will be monitored by aerial surveys in 2002. According to Kern County Ag Commissioner Ken Marks, that's more than a third of the grape acreage in the county. In 2000, Kern County had 85,971 acres of grapes and 41,000 acres of citrus.
