Defining Napa Valley's Sub-Appellations
Conn Creek Winery prepares to launch a unique appellation series, braving the boundaries of politics, marketing and terroir in the process.

Jeff McBride, the upstart winemaker and general manager of St. Helena's Conn Creek Winery, will soon launch an appellation series, which will include 15 Cabernet Sauvignons, one from each of the Napa valley's sub-AVAs.
McBride, who worked in Sonoma County for a quarter-century before crossing over to Napa, used to make wine for Dry Creek Vineyard and Kenwood Winery before arriving in Napa in April 2003 as part of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates' rededication to Conn Creek.
