Wine stocks were on an upswing during the past month, and have found further impetus in the wake of Beringer's takeover by Fosters, the Australian beer and wine behemoth. The Beringer deal cannot be viewed as an isolated event, because consolidation of the industry has hit a fevered pitch this year, as such well-known names as Sebastiani, Arrowood, and RH Phillips are added to the list of those acquired or about to be acquired.
