Portuguese natural cork producers continue to make investments to improve the quality of cork they sell in the US. The most recent company to christen a new, improved facility is MA Silva. MA Silva opened its new cork processing plant in Alter do Chão in March. The purpose of the plant is twofold: increase MA Silva's capacity to produce corks and implement new processes that reduce the level of TCA in cork.
