AC Nielsen figures for July/August 2002 showed that Australian wines had finally captured the number one position by value in the UK from France. Sopexa UK, the promotional body for French wines, claims, however, that in volume France still leads with 2,311,364 hectoliters imported in 2001 against Australia's 1,752,759 hls.
