Oregon's wine commission, the Oregon Wine Advisory Board (OWAB), was set up in 1983 by the state's winemakers and legislators to coordinate research, marketing and promotion of Oregon's wines. (OWAB was preceded by the Table Wine Research Advisory Board, founded in 1977.)The effectiveness, though, of representing such a diverse state often can be compromised.
