I know a few winemakers that like to “disappear” for a few weeks as soon as the last fermenter has been emptied. While this is understandable on a human level—working a few months without a day off leaves one desperately in need of some time to rest and recharge—it is best to start planning the next harvest while one has the previous one in mind and before the next “crisis” happens.
