Retail Sales Analysis: Good Growth for Cabernet Sauvignon On-Premise Sales
The $12 to $14.99 segment leads growth.
Cabernet Sauvignon sales are up 5.4 percent in the 52 weeks ending Oct. 13, 2012 in the total U.S. food, drug, liquor and convenience market channels, according to Nielsen scan data. Case sales for the varietal grew 3.5 percent. Cabernet Sauvignon, the second-largest varietal on the market, represents 15 percent of all wine sales and 6.6 percent of case volume during that period. The price points above $9 are showing strong growth, with $12 to $19.99 showing double-digit growth; the $12 to $14....
