Red Wine Fermentation Option Now Offered for T.W. Boswell Barrels
Cooperages 1912 has launched an innovative red wine barrel fermentation ‘option’ making it easy for T.W. Boswell wine barrels to be used as oak fermenters.
“Many winemakers are experimenting with red wine barrel fermentations and getting excellent results,” said Jason Stout, International Sales Director. “However, removing the head from a barrel can be a challenging task if you have never done it before. We wanted to provide a convenient option for winemakers to experience this fermentation technique.”
The red wine barrel fermentation option simplifies the process by using three adjustable hoops on one end of the barrel that can be loosened and tightened with a standard socket wrench – or a high powered drill for faster results. Also, the head of the barrel has two fittings that allow a handle to be attached, which makes it easy to control and position the head during removal and entry into the barrel croze.
“The adjustable hoops and handle make it possible for almost anyone to remove and re-insert the barrel head,” said Stout. “Take a look at the video demonstration available at http://www.youtube.com/twboswellbarrels.”
Winemakers placing new orders can select this option for any barrel in the T.W. Boswell line.
“A lot of barrels in the T.W. Boswell collection are designed specifically for aging premium red wines,” explains Stout. “With this barrel fermentation option, winemakers can start the important integration of fruit and oak earlier in the process – a perfect marriage from the beginning.”
