Tonnellerie Quintessence is proud to present Fleur de Quintessence, a new premium barrel for aging the world’s finest wines. This barrel celebrates artistry, craftsmanship, French heritage and an exceptional wood source, all of which contribute to Fleur de Quintessence’s status as the cooperage’s icon barrel.

“This barrel is the joyau of our cooperage – our very own crown jewel,” said Franck Renaudin, directeur général. “Just as a lady wears perfume, the wine will wear this barrel with elegance.”

Fleur de Quintessence barrels are crafted with exceptional, 100 percent traceable French oak from the certified forests of Tronçais and Jupilles. Each barrel arrives with its unique toasting graph and a certificate of authenticity, which provides a timeline of the barrel’s journey from these two forests to its winery destination. The certificate includes the date of wood harvest, forest origin, seasoning and weather report, a complete summary of the coopering quality control and toasting, and many other details.

“We feel it is important to be completely transparent about the details of this barrel,” Renaudin said. “Fleur de Quintessence barrels have a very personalized story, which we believe winemakers will enjoy sharing.”

Vincent Roué, master cooper, will personally oversee the crafting of this limited production barrel. As an added personal touch to honor French coopering heritage, Roué has designed decorative chestnut hoops.

“Centuries ago the Gaulois began making barrels using chestnut hoops to hold the barrel together,” said Roué. “We are always using the same traditional roots of our craft, while also maximizing the latest techniques modern technology has to offer to optimize the legacy of the Gaulois.”
 

French for Flower of Quintessence, the barrel’s name represents its position as the crown jewel of Quintessence.
