Bottle Coatings Offers Stylized Bottle Packaging Solution

Date: 06/25/13

June 24, 2013—Bottle Coatings, a leader in bottle packaging solutions, has entered the wine, beer and spirits marketplace with innovative bottle design applications that give customers an attractive new marketing tool. The company powder coats product bottles in a wide variety of colors and styles for a unique, customized appearance. Not only does the powder coating create an impactful aesthetic presentation, but it also helps to protect the beverage inside from potentially damaging UVA and UVB rays. Bottle Coatings can coat in an almost limitless number of shades, textures and hues, to complement the customer’s current branding strategy.

“Packaging has become an increasingly critical element for effectively merchandising alcohol products,” said Shivie Dhillon, president of Los Angeles-based Bottle Coatings, a division of Sundial Powder Coatings. “The label design can make or break a brand in its quest for a successful share of an immensely competitive marketplace. Bottle Coatings is able to give the manufacturer a marketing edge by creating a bottle design that stands out from the crowd. The coating also provides a shield of sorts against ambient light that, over time, can compromise the quality of the product.”

Bottle Coatings’ patent-pending powder coating process is unique, the result of considerable research and testing. The biggest challenge is in getting the powder to stick to the glass since there is no natural electrostatic attraction like there is with different metals. Once you do create a bond between the powder and the glass, it’s critical to control the amount that goes on to the surface. With too little, the coating becomes transparent and the appearance and protection is inferior. Too much can create a dripping effect, or uneven amounts will gather around certain points of the bottle, making one side of the bottle heavier than the other.

Bottle Coatings uses a highly chemical-resistant form of powder, which makes it versatile for a variety of uses. The powder coating process also makes the bottle more scratch-resistant. Silk-screening on the glass, even pad printing, is simple and convenient.
