eWinery Solutions Launches Innovative Program to Help Wineries Improve Traffic and Sales

eWinery Solutions and Napa Valley POS are launching a new program to consult with local wineries to help them improve their tourism business this summer. The program includes strategies to increase both visitor traffic and direct-to-consumer sales.

"This is a crucial time of the year for most of our clients," says Richard Kline, CEO and chairman of eWinery Solutions. "However, we see a lot of wineries missing key opportunities to attract new customers and build relationships with existing customers. In today's competitive market, you can't afford to do that, so we've set up a program to help them succeed."

Direct-to-consumer shipments have increased 10 percent over the past 12 months, but some wineries are being left behind. "We help them in two areas," says Kline. "We help them get more people to the winery, and then we help them manage those customer relationships more effectively."

eWinery's resident SEO and inbound marketing expert Michael Meisner explains, "Why do people visit the wineries they do? Most tourists spend hours on the web planning their trips; they frequent sites like Yelp, TripAdvisor and Fodor's to get advice and opinions from other experienced travelers and locals. Smartphone searches are especially locally-focused, so you must also deliver a clean and simple mobile website that caters to their needs, namely making it easy to call and get directions."

Meisner recommends businesses start by claiming their Google Places page, and further their efforts by creating business citations at local directory websites like Citysearch and DexKnows.com. He continues, "Take time to create complete listings, with photos, business hours, contact information, and good descriptions. It's also a great idea to encourage your customers to leave reviews on these sites, which further validate your business' reputation."

Mobile searches are growing at 50% per year and mobile e-commerce is growing even faster. "If you still don't have a version of your website that's compatible with mobile or tablets, you're missing out on a vast audience of potential customers," finishes Meisner.

Wineries should also focus on their current customers, and fully explore the communications options they have to turn those customers into ambassadors for the brand. As in any marketing effort, it's important to maximize user interactions, Kline explains. "Your customer contact program should be able to give you real insights, and you need to act on those insights. You need to know those things so you can manage your efforts effectively, and this program will show you how to do that."

"Wineries can do a much better job of keeping their customers engaged," says Meisner. "We'll work on follow-up campaigns to further boost brand credibility and help with local search rankings, as well as custom welcome email campaigns for mailing list signups, last chance to purchase notifications, and curated social reviews included on product pages and email campaigns. We'll even show a multi-stage abandoned cart email campaign that automatically triggers emails to customers who leave products in their shopping cart without completing a purchase."
