Nomacorc Celebrates 100 Million Milestone Of Select Series Closure Line

Date: 01/31/13

Nomacorc, the world’s largest producer of synthetic wine closures, is proud to announce the production and shipment of its 100 millionth Select Series closure. First introduced in 2011 with the Select 700, the complete Select Series portfolio was fully commercialized in January 2012. Premium VDP winery Robert König from the Rheingau region in Germany bottled their 2011 Frankenthal Spätlese with Nomacorc’s 100 millionth Select Series closure.

“The success of the Select Series is a direct result of the innovation and technology behind Nomacorc’s oxygen management research and product development,” said Lars von Kantzow, president and CEO of Nomacorc. “We are extremely proud to reach such a milestone in our first year of commercialization, and we look forward to serving more winemakers in the future by providing them with the necessary tools to make wine just as they intend.”

Tailored to meet the unique needs of artisan winemakers and their premium wines, the Select Series was developed based on the results of Nomacorc’s pioneering oxygen management research and experience working with winemakers around the world. The Select Series offers four product options, each consisting of different oxygen ingress rates, which are each designed to provide optimum wine preservation and development.

“The benefits of Nomacorc closures were extremely convincing,” said Robert König of Premium VDP winery Robert König. “That is why last year, we placed our first order for Nomacorc’s Select Series. When we understand how it works with our wines in the long run, we look forward to deepening our relations with Nomacorc in the future.”

Nomacorc produces nearly 2.4 billion closures annually and represents roughly 13 percent of the still wine closure market. The company is the second largest closure manufacturer in the world and has sustained growth in leading wine regions across the globe including Europe, the Americas and China.
