Just Bottle Shots Offers Computer-Modeled Bottle Images

Date: 01/25/13

Available immediately, Just Bottle Shots now offers wineries the ability to create digital images of their bottles using computer modeling technology.

Benefits of computer generated models include:
- Images can be created prior to bottling. No need for ‘fire-drills’ to get an image created after bottling. Images can be created as soon as the label and cap artwork are available.
- Highest quality image: Images created from computer models all but eliminate imperfections such as out of focus, lens distortion, chromatic aberrations, white balance issues, etc.
- Images are the same over time: Once a virtual scene is created, the lighting, exposure, image size, etc. will be exactly the same from shoot to shoot.

Are Images From Computer Models For Every Winery?

Although there are advantages to computer model imaging, it may not be right for every winery. Initial prices are higher than digital photography because a model needs to be created for each unique bottle shape, but the price to render subsequent images from the same bottle model/shape are significantly less than traditional photography.

Tom Nelson, Just Bottle Shots' owner, is agnostic as to which technology is better. Nelson states, “Computer modeling makes sense for larger wineries that use the same shaped bottles over and over again. However, our traditional digital photography will continue to make sense for many if not most wineries. Our goal is to offer both methods so a winery can choose which is best for their specific needs,” he says.

Pricing

Computer Models with first image rendering start at $200 each. Computer Model modifications with additional renderings start at $60. Digital Photography ranges from $70 to $100 per bottle depending on quantity. Images are royalty free.

Since 2007, Just Bottle Shots is a photography service that only produces images of wine bottles. Using the latest digital photography and computer modeling technologies, Just Bottle Shots provides the highest quality images; economies of scale from only imaging bottles results in affordable prices for any size winery.
