Ron Janowczyk Joins Charles Smith Wines as Director of Sales

Charles Smith announced today that Ron Janowczyk will join the company as director of sales, representing the family of brands, which includes K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines, VINO and Secco Italian Bubbles. A wine industry veteran and former senior vice president of Purple Wine Company, Janowczyk has played key roles in growing some of the most dynamic wine brands produced over the last 20 years, including Kendall Jackson, La Crema, Four Vines and Mark West.

Janowczyk, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, started his career at E&J Gallo in 1982 and quickly rose through the company in various managerial roles within sales and sales training. After a brief time at Louis M. Martini, Janowczyk was recruited by the Kendall Jackson Winery and, after three years in territorial sales positions, was selected to be the president of the newly formed Artisans & Estates sales division. In 2002, Janowczyk joined Purple Wine Company as national sales manager and built a 16-person sales organization that grew sales of Purple Wine brands from zero to one million cases in ten years. His efforts have resulted in three different brands being named by M. Shanken Publications as “Hot Brands” or “Hot Prospects” and was also responsible for growing the sales volume of Mark West Pinot Noir from concept to the #1 revenue-producing Pinot Noir in the United States.

Based in Santa Rosa, California, Janowczyk will join Charles Smith Wines this month and will be responsible for the sales organization, brand-positioning strategies and will manage the advancement of the wholesaler network for all brands. “I believe that the state of Washington is extremely well-positioned to provide wine with unquestionable quality and an exciting and evolving style. With that, I'm privileged that Charles Smith has give me an opportunity to oversee the growth and development of his iconic and highly acclaimed wines,” said Janowczyk.

The winery was named “Best New Wineries of the Last Ten Years” in Wine & Spirits Magazine and “Winery of the Year” in their annual buying guide. Charles Smith Wines are sold in all fifty states and fifteen countries worldwide.
