David Ramey, owner of Ramey Wine Cellars in Healdsburg, California was elected Chair of Family Winemakers of California for 2013. Ramey is serving his second term and has served as vice chair and secretary/treasurer, as well as holding a directorship since 2005. In addition he has chaired the association’s Tasting Committee and Finance Committee.
“Family Winemakers of California remains the voice of the small wine producer in the California Legislature and brings that perspective to national direct shipping issues. Although many of our smaller members think of Family Winemakers as a marketing instrument by virtue of our tastings, during my service on the Board I've come to appreciate the role that we play in influencing policy, both in Sacramento and on market access issues in states such as Massachusetts and Florida, which have nation-wide impact. We’ll continue to strongly advocate for open markets,” said Ramey.
The FWC membership also elected Joseph Harbison of Harbison Estate Wines in Oakville to a second term as vice chair. Wendy Brooks of Pride Mountain Vineyards in St. Helena was appointed secretary and treasurer.
