Ladera Vineyards Names Jade Barrett As New Associate Winemaker
Jade Barrett joined Howell Mountain’s Ladera Vineyards as Associate Winemaker bringing with him his past experience and new-world winemaking style. Previously, Jade was with Jericho Canyon Vineyards in Calistoga for nearly six years as the Associate Winemaker, where he helped oversee the completion of the Jericho Canyon Vineyards’ winery facility and the production of their first estate wines.
Barrett was introduced to the wine industry on his native Waiheke Island in New Zealand. After a seasonal job in a vineyard and cellar one summer, Jade quickly developed an affinity for winemaking. From there, he furthered his wine knowledge and pursued his career through several winemaking positions around the globe. In 2002, he became a Cellar Supervisor at Vine Cliff Winery in Napa Valley where he performed and took ownership of daily cellar and laboratory duties. Afterward, he was hired as the Assistant Winemaker for Lewis Cellars, where he contributed to all facets of winemaking.
Barrett resides in Calistoga with his wife and two children. When he is not at the winery, he likes to stay involved with a little piece of his native home: he is an active player of the Santa Rosa Rugby Club, New Zealand's national sport.
