Paragon Label of Petaluma is proud to announce that Paul Matheson, a specialist in prepress, digital printing and Indigo technology, has been named Pre-Press and Digital Production Manager.
A recent Penngrove resident, Paul brings a wealth of experience to the Paragon team. For the past nine years, he was an R&D research engineer in Palo Alto with Hewlett Packard Laboratories. A specialist in Commercial Print and Liquid Electrophotography, Paul’s expertise is in digital printing technologies as well Flexographic and Offset printing.
A six-year Navy veteran serving on the USS James Madison as a nuclear power plant operator, Paul discovered his affinity for the printing profession in the mid 80’s. He worked at George Lithograph for five years and was an active member of PINC and the San Francisco Craftsmen’s Club.
“Paragon is an extraordinary place to work,” says the Phoenix, Arizona native. “It is family-owned with a genuine commitment to community and creativity. Because of their emphasis on creative thinking I am able to work closely with the client, our pressmen and designers to translate and ensure that what I see on the screen is what the buyer will see on the label.”
“This translation process is delicate, precise and often demanding but the end result is an incredible collaboration between man and science, vision and visionary and client and pre-press. The end product is the result of those processes.”
Paul and his wife Lisa are inveterate travelers and have been all over the world, including two trips to Africa. They have two “mutts” from Grateful Dog Rescue, a “scruffy” terrier mix named Ferris, a “weird Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix” named Marty and a rabbit called Eddie.
