The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) announce the installation of their new President, Jeffrey Berg, ARA, ASA, FRICS. Jeff is the President and owner of Crown Appraisals, Inc. in Barnesville, MN. Mr. Berg was installed as the new Society President during the ASFMRA Annual Meeting held in Phoenix, Arizona from October 24-28, 2011.
Jeffrey Berg is a Minnesota native, growing up on a family farming operation in west central Minnesota. Crown Appraisals was established in 1987. The Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation was earned in 1991. In 1994, Jeff earned the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation in the machinery and equipment appraisal specialty from ASA. In 2010, the Fellow Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) designation was awarded to Jeff in recognition of his extensive plant & machinery appraisal experience.
Appraisal experience includes a wide range of agricultural and agribusiness properties—particularly properties which are equipment intensive. Agribusiness appraisals include grain elevator, fertilizer, seed conditioning, dry edible bean processing, potato wash plants and warehouses, sugar beet factories, potato flake and french fry potato processing facilities. Jeff is regarded as a regional expert in the appraisal of grain elevators, seed processing plants and fertilizer/agronomy facility appraisals.
Jeff is the past President of the Minnesota Chapter of ASFMRA and has attended the ASFMRA Leadership Institute in Washington, DC. Jeff is an instructor for many of ASFMRA’s courses and is a National USPAP instructor. He was chairman of the ASFMRA Appraisal Education Committee for three years and chaired the ARA Accreditation Committee for two years. He is actively involved in instructing ASFMRA courses as well as developing new courses and seminars. ASFMRA named Jeff the “2008 Appraisal Professional of the Year” award recipient.
Jeff and Jill Berg have been married for over thirty years and have two daughters. Sheena is a graduate of Concordia College and works in outside sales for a medical supply company. Sasha will graduate in May 2012 from the University of North Dakota with a doctorate in physical therapy. Jill owns Spherion Staffing, a temporary and permanent staffing business with offices in Fargo and Bismarck, ND. Bergs live in rural Barnesville, MN.
