Dave Holt Named President Of Dalla Terra Winery

Date: 02/07/11

Dalla Terra Winery Direct Chairman and Founder Brian Larky announced that he has promoted Dave Holt to President. Holt, who joined Dalla Terra in 2001, was previously General Manager. In his tenure with Dalla Terra, the company has grown from importing wines from five family-owned Italian wineries (35,000 cases/year), to 19 (300,000 cases/year). “We expect to continue our growth trajectory at an accelerated pace, and I’ve therefore asked Dave to take responsibility for the executive decision-making in order to continue to grow the company’s value-driven winery-direct business model upon which Dalla Terra was founded. Dave has been doing much of this work over the past years and is the ideal person to now take official charge of these responsibilities. This will allow me to focus on expanding Dalla Terra’s national presence, working directly with our Italian estates and collaborating with Dave on our long term strategy. This evolution gives Dalla Terra additional bandwidth and positions us for long term growth,” comments Larky.

Holt draws on an impressive 30-year career in the wine and hospitality industry, including having been the managing partner for two restaurants in Seattle, WA, as well as another in Hawaii. After retiring from the restaurant business, Holt started his career in wine as the sales director for Distefano Winery, a Pacific NW winery. “I am honored to receive this title and responsibility,” says Holt. “It’s been a wonderful ten years, building an amazing and dynamic team of some of the best and brightest in the wine industry. The fact that we have been able to accomplish this during a very challenging time for our industry is something we are all very proud of. I look forward to continued growth and success in the years to come by continually exploring ways to improve our product and service,” Dave Holt can be reached at Dave@DallaTerra.com (503) 777-1717.

About Dalla Terra Winery Direct

Founded in 1990, the Dalla Terra™ Winery Direct® roster reads like a who’s who of some of the most esteemed wineries in Italy. Each producer has played a major role in the significant strides Italy has made over the last twenty years in improving the quality of its wines. Dalla Terra is changing the nature of the wine importing and distribution business. Founder Brian Larky’s untraditional approach to selling wine skips the national importer level in the three-tier distribution system, allowing U.S. distributors to buy directly from the producer. This unique business model offers a more efficient, economical, profitable and consumer-friendly way of shipping, distributing and marketing wine. In spite of recent unfavorable exchange rates, and economic conditions, Dalla Terra continues to act innovatively to bring both quality and value to American wine consumers. While Dalla Terra™ Winery Direct®’s services are sought after by winemakers all over Italy because of the company’s economically competitive edge, producers are also attracted by the company’s commitment to highlighting individuality in the portfolio. Larky includes each of the producers with whom he works in a roundtable on innovation and quality, at which each producer has a voice.
