Araujo Estate Wines Appoints Nigel Kinsman as Winemaker

Araujo Estate Wines, producer of estate wines from the iconic Eisele Vineyard in Napa Valley, is pleased to announce it has appointed Nigel Kinsman, formerly of Krupp Brothers, as Winemaker. Matt Taylor, who has held the winemaker position at Araujo since 2007, has left to focus on his own Pinot Noir brand, Matthew D. Taylor Wines. Consulting winemaker Francoise Peschon, who has been with Araujo since 1993, will continue to oversee the winemaking program; consulting oenologist Michel Rolland will continue his involvement as well.

“Nigel brings relevant experience and a proven track record of producing highly regarded wines from some of the finest wine estates in California, Italy and Australia. We look forward to working with him,” commented Bart Araujo, founder and proprietor of Araujo Estate Wines. “We’d also like to thank Matt for his many contributions and wish him the best as he pursues his long-held dream.”

Nigel Kinsman has spent the last four years as winemaker for Krupp Brothers in Napa Valley where he oversaw the production of wines for Krupp Brothers, Black Bart and Veraison. Prior to that he was winemaker at Australian Wine Holdings Ltd. in the Margaret River, and spent two years in Italy working with consulting winemaker Michel Rolland at Tolaini SRL, Castelnuova Berardenga. He also spent time at Cullen Wines, a certified Biodynamic® and organic vineyard and winery in Margaret River, as well as Nepenthe Wines and Mount Langi Ghiran. Kinsman received his Oenology degree from the University of Adelaide and also holds a Bachelor of Music degree.

“Nigel’s work with Michel Rolland and his experience with Biodynamic® and organic winegrowing make him the ideal candidate for continuing the legacy of Araujo and the Eisele Vineyard,” added Bart Araujo.

Araujo Estate Wines was founded in 1990 by Bart and Daphne Araujo. The 162-acre estate consists of the 38-acre Biodynamic® and organically-farmed Eisele Vineyard, one of the most respected Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Napa Valley, a winery and caves designed specifically to vinify Eisele Vineyard grapes, as well as a wildlife habitat and watershed.
