Bebe Hutter, 38, a rising star with W.J. Deutsch, passed away September 2 from unexpected complications while giving birth to a baby girl, Meka. Hutter went into cardiac arrest following an apparent amniotic fluid embolism.
Daughter Meka survived and was expected to leave the hospital Friday, according to Harvey Hutter, Bebe’s father. “The only thing she wanted was to have a baby,” he said.
Hutter had been maintaining a blog about the pregnancy and about bringing the baby into the world.
Bebe Hutter was most recently Deutsch’s director of marketing for Zamora, Corpora and Kunde. She joined the company in September 2008 after serving as senior brand manager for still and sparkling wines at Remy Contreau. Hutter had worked as a brand manager for Italian wines at Remy and before that as marketing manager for Baron Philippe de Rothschild at Dreyfus Ashby, also in New York.
After receiving an MBA from UCLA, Hutter started her career in the wine industry in a marketing position with New World Wine Communications in Sonoma, California, the parent company of Wine Business Monthly and winebusiness.com (now Wine Communications Group).
Bebe Hutter will be greatly missed by her friends at Wine Communications Group.
A graveside service was held Friday, September 3 at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
A trust fund for Meka is pending and will be set up after Meka’s birth certificate is issued.
