Cameron Hughes Wine, a modern, international wine negociant (www.chwine.com), has named Sam Spencer, Director of Winegrowing. As the director of winegrowing, Spencer works closely with founder Cameron Hughes bringing more than 18 years of winegrowing and wine business experience. Spencer is primarily responsible for overseeing the winemaking process, including developing strategic relationships with growers and producers globally.
Before that, Spencer co-founded Hayes and Vine Wine Bar in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley where he broadened his education and palate by tasting thousands of wines from around the world. Spencer continues to farm Madder Lake, and his client roster is a who’s who of the luxury wine business. Spencer started his career as a wine waiter in New Zealand when he received an opportunity to work a harvest at the world-renowned Cloudy Bay Vineyards before returning to California to pursue his education.
