Don Davis Named Sales and Hospitality Director for MacRostie Winery and Vineyards
MacRostie Winery and Vineyards announced the appointment of Don Davis to the role of sales and hospitality director. In this important position, Davis will guide the launch of the new MacRostie Estate House, and will oversee the Estate House’s guest services and wine appreciation programs, as well as its trade hospitality program. The new MacRostie Estate House is currently under construction on Westside Road in the Russian River Valley, and is scheduled to open later this year.
Davis is a highly seasoned wine and hospitality industry professional, and an e-commerce and marketing expert. In the hospitality realm, Davis is the founder and past owner of San Francisco’s BIN 38 wine bar and restaurant, which featured the largest wine-by-the-glass program in California, and was voted the “Top wine list in San Francisco” and one of the “Top 50 wine lists in the United States” by OpenTable diners. Davis was also the founder of Uncorked Events, a corporate and consumer wine-focused event planning company. Davis has also held positions as the director of business development for Wine.com, and director of sales and business development for New Vine Logistics.
The MacRostie Estate House is being designed by the internationally acclaimed firm of Gould Evans, with renowned wine country architect Douglas Thornley leading the project, and the firm of Roche+Roche providing landscape architecture. Both aesthetically and experientially, the new Estate House has been designed to welcome guests for unique and memorable tastings at its indoor and outdoor guest venues. As part of its hospitality program, the MacRostie Estate House will offer numerous visitor experiences including barrel samplings, rotational tastings and creative, interactive educational programs.
“It was an incredibly exciting feeling when we recently broke ground on our MacRostie Estate House,” says founder Steve MacRostie. “It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to build a true home for our wines—a special place that reflects who we are, and what we believe, as a winery. Part of this is having a hospitality program that reflects the same values as our wines. Don brings a remarkable level of knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to his role. His background will make our visitor experience as unique and memorable as our new MacRostie Estate House.”
The MacRostie Estate House property also features a 13-acre estate Pinot Noir Vineyard, named Thale’s Vineyard after Steve MacRostie’s wife, and will include a purpose-built, small-lot Pinot Noir winery designed to Steve MacRostie and winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen’s specifications.
