Grgich Hills Estate Hires Yannick Girardo as Hospitality Manager

Date: 11/20/13

Yannick Girardo has joined Grgich Hills Estate as hospitality manager, responsible for ensuring every guest to the winery has a memorable experience.

Girardo has extensive experience with providing, and training others, in superior hospitality and customer service in the food and beverage industry. Most recently, he was food and beverage manager for the luxury resort Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, California. Prior to that he was the assistant general manager at New York City’s famed restaurant Daniel, which was awarded three Michelin Stars. He also gained valuable experience working in fine dining restaurants in Monte Carlo, Monaco and Nice, France. Girardo holds a baccalaureate in professional hotel and restaurant (service option) from the “Lycee Auguste Escoffier” in Cagnes sur Mer, France.

Proprietor Violet Grgich said, “We believe that every person who visits our estate should have an exceptionally memorable experience at Grgich Hills. Yannick’s extensive experience at some of the finest restaurants and resorts in the world made him the perfect fit to lead our hospitality team.”

Located at 1829 St. Helena Hwy (Hwy. 29) in Rutherford, Grgich Hills Estate was founded in 1977 by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and Austin Hills after Mike’s Chardonnay outscored the best of France in the now-famous 1976 Paris Tasting.

Today, this iconic winery farms 366 acres naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides, and uses its passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines. Mike just celebrated his 90th birthday and he is assisted by his daughter, Violet Grgich, vice president of operations, and his nephew, Ivo Jeramaz, vice president of vineyards and production.
