Charles Smith announced today that Lisa Kaplan will join the company as Northeast region sales manager, representing the family of brands, which includes K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines, ViNO and Secco Italian Bubbles. From Harvard University to pastry chef to wine authority, Kaplan will bring over a dozen years of experience to the team as one of the leading wine professionals in the Boston area.
After seven years in the restaurant industry in Massachusetts and California, Kaplan moved to the front of the house and held positions of restaurant manager and sommelier at several fine dining establishments. Seeking out a new challenge in 2002, Kaplan joined Ruby Wines, Massachusetts’ leading distribution company, where she worked as a sales representative and sales manager. After nearly 10 years with the company, she made the transition to the import side of the business and began anew with Domaine Select Wine Estates, the 2010 Food & Wine Importer of the Year. Kaplan was the New England regional manager and oversaw the business in five New England states. When the opportunity to join Charles Smith Wines came up, Kaplan was thrilled to work with one of Washington’s top wineries.
“Charles's passion for his wines and vineyards is contagious and I look forward to sharing that with the Northeast,” said Kaplan. Charles Smith adds, “Lisa will be a great addition to our team with her super high energy and constant professionalism. Her experience - and being New England’s best loved wine professional – it’s a coup for us and our distribution partners.”
As Northeast region sales manager, Kaplan will initially be responsible for New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. She will report directly to Ron Janowczyk, the vice president of sales for Charles Smith Wines, K Vintners, ViNO and Secco Italian Bubbles.
