Gandona Estate, a producer of fine wines on Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley, has announced two appointments fundamental to its continued success in the luxury wine market.
Ryan Knoth, formerly an enologist at Staglin Family Vineyard, has assumed the role of assistant winemaker at Gandona Estate. In this role, Knoth will manage production and assist Philippe Melka with winemaking responsibilities. His path to winemaking started in 2008 when he left his position as partner and vice president of research and development at a start-up biotechnology firm in San Diego. He earned a degree in enology and gained valuable experience in Napa Valley and Australia’s Barossa Valley prior to joining Staglin. Knoth holds a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and a post-baccalaureate degree in enology from California State University-Fresno.
“Gandona Estate is the fortunate recipient of strong early market acceptance,” said Manuel Pires, vintner and owner of Gandona Estate. “Daniel and Ryan bring the expertise needed to help maintain our position and facilitate the company’s growth. They join Philippe Melka and Jim Barbour as new members of our exceptional management team.”
