William McPharlin has joined Grgich Hills Estate as Northeast regional sales manager, responsible for overseeing sales on the Eastern Seaboard, stretching from Maine to Washington, D.C.
Proprietor Violet Grgich announced the hiring, saying, “William is a great addition to our team. Based in New York, he has a long history of selling luxury wines and we look forward to him sharing our story with our many fans throughout the Northeast.”
McPharlin most recently was the Northeast area manager for Rodney Strong Wine Estates and he has worked for Peerless Importers, Powers Distributing Co., Heublein Incorporated and Gallo.
Located at 1829 St. Helena Hwy (Hwy. 29) in Rutherford, Grgich Hills Estate was founded in 1977 by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and Austin Hills after Mike’s Chardonnay outscored the best of France in the now-famous 1976 Paris Tasting.
Today, this iconic winery farms 366 acres naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides, and uses its passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines. Mike just celebrated his 90th birthday and he is assisted by his daughter, Violet Grgich, vice president of operations, and his nephew, Ivo Jeramaz, vice president of vineyards and production.
